Today, it is my first day of work.
I’ve been looking forward during my holiday to my attachment with ABB, especially when we report on the day without knowing what job scope allocated for us.
I seldom wake up soo early get prepared and around 6.45am left my house head to my workplace compared to heading school at 9am.
This is also my first time working in a big firm company and getting my first pay. I think this is a good chance for me to gain job experience.
There are so many things for me to learn, sight-seeing and explore in working place.
First day of work, reporting time is 8am. Ridzwan, Guo Hua, Gineish and Kok Lun and I waited in the room for almost 2 hours. We were held back for 2 hours in the registration room, waiting for the HR Miss Yvonne Chng to pick up.
She allocated us which department and meet with our supervisor. She also gave us an identification pass to enter the ABB premises. Mr NS Koh bought me to the office at level 4 to meet my supervisor is Mr Ong Peck Seng. He was not feeling well today and he also quite busy with his work. Mr Koh also introduces my colleague, Winnie Ong. I was appointed in Automation Product Marketing and Channel Development sector. Most of my colleagues is out of the office. Meanwhile, Winnie gave me some ABB magazines, brochures and catalogues for me to read and understand what ABB is about. She also told me in this department, we are engineers to help the technicians in marketing, troubleshooting and prices of the products as well as meeting with clients.
Winnie Ong brings me around the company and introduces some other division colleagues. At around 4.30pm, we meet up with Miss Yvonne for some briefing, de-brief and discussion of what ABB is all about. ABB is a leading industry in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environment impact. How ABB does and is being applied in our daily lives, although we do not see the ABB products but majority of the electrical stuffs, example electric, gas and water utilities, automotive, minerals, refining and power system, power products etc.
For attachment students, we have to submit monthly timesheet on the 10th of each month to HR centre and a form of declaration of codes of conduct of the company.
